Become a Master Communicator

Author: Ryan Pearson

One key factor for you to have more happiness in your life is to work to improve your communication skills. By improving your communication skills, you will more effectively receive what you want in life.

The reason why most people have unsatisfactory results in their life, is because they have poor communication skills. People get frustrated when they don’t get what they want, and often times don’t realize it is because they did not communicate clearly, what it is they wanted.

Poor results come from poor communication, not only in personal communication, but also in metaphysical communication. Many times people do not get exactly what they want in life because their communication to the Universe or the Higher Power and to themselves is unclear.

You must be very clear on exactly what it is you want when communicating with another person, The Universe, or yourself.

I know you may be thinking, what do I mean with yourself. A lot of times we are wishy washy with what we want. We tell ourselves “I kind of want this, but I also kind of want that.” or “I guess that would be alright.”. We need to be very specific with ourselves of exactly what it is we want. We cannot express clearly, to someone else, what we want if we are unclear, about what we want, ourselves.

First we will discuss how to communicate with your Higher Power to get what you want, then we will discuss how to communicate with other people. I am using the term “Higher Power” or “Universe” because I do not want to offend any one’s religious beliefs. You can replace the term Higher Power with God or whatever name you believe the creative source to be called. The principles for communication will be the same.

To manifest what you want in life, from a metaphysical standpoint, I would highly encourage you to sit quietly with a pen and paper, and write exactly what it is that you want to create in your life. Write what you want in great detail. The more detailed you are, the better. Remember, this is about being extremely clear about what it is that you want.

After you have written what it is that you want, I would highly suggest that you read what you wrote one to three times a day out loud. This will benefit you in two ways. First, it will help your mind get extremely clear and focused on exactly what you want. Your mind being clear will help you stay focused, take proper action and communicate to others in a more clear, concise and effective manner. The second benefit is, the two most powerful ways to communicate with the Universe, to manifest, is through writing and speaking. Writing creates the most energy, with speaking creating the second most energy. Writing and speaking to the Universe are your two most powerful ways to create what you want.

Now let’s talk about our everyday communication with other people. There are many elements that go into positive effective communication. There is verbal and nonverbal communication.

The words that we use only make up 7% of our communication. The other 93% is voice tone and body language. What that means is, before you have even said a word, you have already said a lot.

It is very important to practice paying attention to your body language and voice tone. It is important to be aware of your voice tone, when you speak. Have you ever had someone ask you for something in a whiny sounding voice; or how about in a very demanding tone of voice? Think back to when someone has approached you with either of these voice tones. Did you really want to give them what they were asking for? Probably not, you were probably pretty turned off by their approach. Focus on having a friendly confident tone.

Body language is huge! So many people are giving the wrong signals and they don’t even realize it. Your words and voice tone may be saying one thing, but your body is saying something very different. The non verbal speaks louder than the verbal, always. The person that you are communicating with will most often not even realize that they are being effected by your body language, however they are, it happens on a subconscious level.

Pay attention to your body language. First of all make sure you are standing up straight with your shoulders back. Good posture communicates confidence. Everyone is attracted to a person who is truly confident. You are much more likely to have someone say yes to you, when you exude self confidence, than if you do not. Another tip is to avoid standing with your arms folded in front of you. Arms folded communicates that you are stand offish and blocking the other person from getting through to you. It also communicates disinterest.

Eye contact is so important, because of so many reasons. I will just cover a few reasons here. For one thing, it shows strong self confidence. It also allows you to have a strong connection with the person you are communicating with. A lot of people do not trust a person that avoids eye contact and building trust is the number one component to effective communication. Eye contact can be hard for some people. If you are someone who has difficulty with maintaining eye contact, begin practicing now. It begins with awareness, then practice, then mastery. One of the most important skills that you can practice and master is maintaining good eye contact.

Next comes the words that we use. Even though words are only 7% of our communication, they are still extremely important and require conscious awareness to use them effectively. There is so much to cover, when it comes to the words we use. I will share some resources for you to study on your own, that will help you with everything that we just covered. First let’s cover what I believe to be one of the most important things to be aware of when it comes to the words you use.

Most people’s main focus when they communicate is on themselves. They use the word “I” over and over again. Understanding that most people’s main interest is themselves can be a very valuable tool for you. One of your greatest tools to be a great communicator is to stop using the word “I”, “Me” and “My” so often and start using the word “You”, “Your” and “Yours” much more often. People love to talk about themselves, and if you let them do it, you will be their most favorite person in the whole world, because most of the people they talk to are talking about themselves most of the time.

Another important thing to realize is that people love the sound of their own name. Use a persons name often during a conversation with them. They will be putty in your hands.

Remember, God gave us two ears and one mouth so talk less and listen more. And really listen, a lot of times when another person is speaking we are caught up in our head thinking about how we are going to respond or just waiting for our turn to speak. Listen with you complete focus and attention on what they are saying then trust that you will be able to respond organically. The best communicators are the best listeners, not the best talkers.

To really master these skills and take your communication to a whole new level, I would highly recommend that you begin to study NLP. NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming. By mastering NLP, you will become a master of influence. NLP will cover the best way to use your words, how to build powerful rapport, how to read other people and so much more.

Here are a couple of tips on how to build powerful rapport. First when talking to someone on the phone or in person, match their speaking style. It is a good idea to match the voice tone and speaking speed of the person that you are talking to.

Another powerful tool is to mirror the body language of the person you are communicating with. Don’t mimic them, just subtly mirror them. When you do this you are sending them a subliminal message that you are just like them.

Remember, no matter where your communication skills currently are, you can always be better. To be a better communicator it just takes self awareness, the desire to be better and practice.

NLP SINGAPORE – What Can You Be If You Have Dyslexia?

Posted by on Aug 20, 2009 in Inspirational Stories, NLP Singapore, Self Improvement |

Hi Friends

What can you be if you have Dyslexia?

Recall the few stories that I have shared previously:

STORY 1

If you lack normal ability to learn (read or write), what can you become? I know someone who has dyslexia. Because of his inability to read or write properly, his primary school teacher thought he was lazy and trying to fool around in school. His friends called him ‘idiot’ or ‘stupid’. His poor family background did not helped him either. How would you feel this happen day after day? What has become of him now?

ANSWER: He now runs a Inline Skating Business and an Outdoor Adventure Club Business. He was featured on TV and he married a ex-school teacher.

STORY 2

He grew up poor, and his family moved around a lot while his father looked for work. He, like his mother, suffered from dyslexia and was put into the remedial classes at school. Because of his dyslexia, he did not do well academically, so he focused on athletics and competed in many sports. A knee injury destroyed his hopes of a promising athletic career. Was that the end of him?

ANSWER: He starred in various movies and probably the most unforgettable ones are ‘Top Gun’, ‘Mission Impossible’, ‘War of the World’, etc. He is ……… Tom Cruise.

STORY 3

When he was young, he didn’t breeze through school. School was a torture and nightmare for him. His scores on standardized tests were dismal, pointing to a dismal future. He was embarrassed by his dyslexia and found his education becoming more and more difficult. What can a person who can’t even learn properly have a future?

ANSWER: One of our ‘Roadmap to Success (NLP Singapore)‘ group member Kristiaan Johannes got it correct. He is Sir Richard Branson. Read one of his book called “Screw It Just Do It”. He is also the 1st person in the world to make space travel a reality. Search for his company called ‘Virgin Galactic’.

If a person spent his/her lifetime complaining about what he/she doesn’t have, start thinking about what talents/assets that he/she has for a change and how to make full use of it.

Studies show that NLP skills can be learned by anyone to improve their effectiveness both personally and professionally.

Nlp Training: Understanding The Communication Model

Author: People Building

NLP is an art and a science. It is based on the idea that the sensory information around us is translated into thoughts and ideas, which affect our state, physiology and behaviour and therefore our results. Our words also affect our experience and the experience of others. NLP teaches us how to use communication more effectively. NLP also tells us that we code or represent information to ourselves in certain ways. How we do code information varies between events we perceive as positive and negative. NLP teaches specific strategies and techniques that we can learn in order to represent this information differently to produce better results. These strategies are taught during NLP courses and NLP training, during NLP practitioner courses.

The NLP communication model explains clearly how we process and use information and how this affects our state, physiology and behaviour. This is why it is a good starting point for therapy and I will always explain it to clients attending their first session of NLP or Hypnotherapy. This model was taught to me during my NLP practitioner training course with People Building an NLP training company. It is a tool I find invaluable. It is really important for clients to understand this model in order to be able to make changes to how they view their world.

What we know is that every second we are bombarded by sensory feedback (an estimated 2 million bits of information every second) from our 5 senses Visual (sight), Auditory (hearing), Kinaesthetic (feeling & touch), Olfactory (smelling) and Gustatory (tasting). In any given moment we are selective as to what information we pay attention to because of course we cannot possibly hope to process all of the information. Memory theorists suggest we can handle or remember about 7 new bits of information at once.

This means that we filter the 2 million bits of information into about 7 bits. The way we do this is by deleting, distorting or generalizing. Deletion means we do not attend to information that is not relevant in the moment, distortion means we adapt the information to make it fit with what we believe or are on the look-out for, generalization helps us to relate new information to what we already know. These three processes are crucial, as they prevent us from being overloaded with information and allow us to function.

However, what this also means is that we do not have the full picture because we have ignored or changed information during the filtering process. Using the 7 bits of information that have filtered we recreate the outside event inside our mind. This is called an internal representation. This mean that what we represent to ourselves inside our minds is never true to what is actually happening in the event

Our internal representations are a re-presentation of the original information after filtering. Because the information we take in is via our 5 senses, our internal representations are made up of thoughts, feelings, sounds, pictures, smell and tastes. Importantly, the way we represent or code information in our internal representation affects how we feel, which in turn affects our physiology and behavior. What we know is that happy people tend to filter and represent information differently to depressed or anxious people. More importantly via cognitive therapy such as NLP or hypnotherapy, Herts, people experiencing mental distress can learn to filter in a way that allows refreshed perspectives and a different emotional experience.

The communication model is something that you will learn by attending an NLP course such as an NLP practitioner or master practitioner course. People Building, an NLP training company, run free NLP taster events during which the NLP communication model is taught.

Anthony Robbins NLP

By Chris Dreyer

Anthony Robbins is born Anthony J. Mahavick in February 29, 1960. Self-help writer, professional speaker and occasional actor are just some of the qualifications under his belt. With his best-selling books, he managed to touch and changed numerous lives, introducing the science behind the sense personal awareness. Robbins is known as a writer of topics that focuses on health and energy, overcoming fears, the power of effective persuasive communication and relationships. Through his numerous infomercials, he has become a worldwide phenomenon, promoting personal development with his audio programs and motivational seminars. He primarily makes use of neuro-linguistic programming or NLP and various hypnosis techniques in his claims of personal awareness. A good communicator, speaker, healer and life coach, Robbins combines his skills with unconventional and conventional persuasive techniques to promote personal change.

With only high school education in tow, Robbins have managed to create an empire with his gift of better understanding of life and human nature in combination with his excellent communication skills. His first vocation, being in sales, was his initial practice of his inherent knowledge of persuasion. His fondness for personal growth books only helped him develop and refine is remarkable ability to promote positivity and confidence from among his listeners and readers. In 1983, Robbins was have grown interest in NLP, a then new and promising technique that is claimed to be effective in promoting instant and positive transformation by directly altering the unconscious “programs” of the human mind.

Robbins has started practicing NLP in his career after learning its principles directly from its co-founder, John Grinder. Working with the perception that human capabilities is relative to his self-awareness, such principles have significantly helped him refine his thoughts, which eventually has catapulted his career and popularity. As one of the practices of NLP, Grinder has convinced Robbins to look into firewalking. From the principles of NLP, Robbins has later on introduced NAC or Neuro-Associative Conditioning, making use of the term conditioning rather than programming. He claims that “conditioning” implies that the subject has a greater responsibility for his or her own change while “programming” accounts the change to someone else.

Robbins was drawn into the principles that NLP entails since it very much applicable in his practice of promoting self-help. He then took the principles of NLP in his series of television and radio programs, which have significantly helped NLP be widely accepted by the public. Understandably, Robbins had faced the lashing words of skeptics. In response, having witnessed the dramatic change that NLP has brought in improving the way his supporters lived their lives, he publicly challenged his critic psychiatrists to work with their toughest patients or case in front of live audience. In the said program, Robbins has cured a woman of her phobia of snakes, a case that were handled by a professional psychiatrist for years. What’s amazing is that he had cured the woman in only fifteen minutes. From then on, the public has grown interest in his seminars, books and whatever he is working on.

The Importance of Self-Belief

Author: Roseanna Leaton

It is difficult to measure the effect of your own individual self-belief. After all, you only know for sure what you have or have not achieved and cannot prove to yourself how much more you might have achieved if you were more confident. It is only when you look at the human race as a group and you begin to question and compare the impact of various traits that the value of self-confidence can be so easily identified.

It has been noted and proven time and again that your level of self-belief does indeed prove to be a good predictor of success and achievement in many different areas of your life. If only self-confidence was a class taught in schools; it would indeed become the most important class of all. Why is it not taught, when everyone agrees as to the vital impact of confidence in one’s life?

I believe that the answer to this question lies primarily in that no one can agree on HOW confidence can be taught. Confidence is not a tangible thing in the sense of making 1 + 1 = 2 or knowing how to spell correctly. Rather it is an emotion; it is a feeling. This is what makes so many people shy away from the thought that confidence can be taught, or learned through teaching. Instead, there is a communal belief which indicates that you either have confidence or you do not, and that is “how it is”.

But I fear that this is a cop-out. The effect of having confidence or a lack of confidence IS tangible; you can feel it, you can hear it in one’s tonality and see it in one’s posture…and you can all but taste it as well. Confidence is a real live, living, breathing, tangible thing. The very thing which prevents you from gaining confidence is the belief that “this is how you are” and that that’s all there is to it.

It is high time to take a step back and view confidence and lack of confidence from a different angle. Do you agree that confidence or lack of it is directly related to the experiences in one’s life? Very few people would disagree with this statement. The thing is that once you appreciate that how you experience something is dependent upon your perception of that something, then you begin to realize that you can begin to change.

Your perceptions of the world around you and your expectations about what might happen all come from within; they come from your own inner mind. You can access the inner workings of your mind simply by choosing to learn hypnosis. You can learn to use hypnosis with the help of hypnosis downloads. It’s easy. Hypnosis is normal and natural, and allows you to access your subconscious mind.

Once you have access to your subconscious mind with the help of hypnosis, you can then place suggestions in your mind to build your confidence, to build your self-esteem, to build your self-worth. Hypnosis is another subject which should be taught in schools; it is the most enabling and empowering state of mind and it is totally natural. Once again I fear that the reason it is not taught (in general) is because it is misunderstood; hypnosis, like confidence, is perceived (incorrectly) as intangible. It is not perceived as something which easily complies with the ticking of boxes.

It is ironic that both confidence and hypnosis can be taught, and can be measured (if one tries to do so). Both are indeed far more quantifiable than you may at first expect. We should all give thanks to people such as Richard Bandler and Paul McKenna who have identified ways to de-mystify hypnosis and also to give hypnosis and NLP structure and methodology. Even the most analytical of thinkers would find it hard to question the value of hypnosis is this day and age, as scientific research time and again proves its effectiveness in so many areas of our lives.
