NLP SINGAPORE – How to stop procrastination?

Posted by on Apr 4, 2014 in Self Improvement |

Hi Friends,

Have you experience writing a long task list and complete none?

Have you experience struggling to meet client’s proposal deadline?

Have you experience postponing your task to tomorrow, following day, months, years?

You are not alone, you have fall under …

                      PROCASTINATION

                    “I lack focus.”
“I don’t have any motivation.”
“I just don’t have any self-discipline.”1

There are many reasons why I tend to procrastinate.

1. AVIODANCE – Run away from stress.

2. ADRENALINE RUSH – Love to challenge myself to complete the task with the minimum time given.

3. NO ACTION -The beginning stages of optimism are starting to fade. There is still time, but I haven’t done anything yet, and I start to feel uneasy. I realize that I actually have to do something to get it done, and that good intentions are not enough.

Come to a point when I decided to take charge of my life events by:

4

1) Plan and Action: Always put my deadlines one or two days in advance. Take in consideration everything that you need to do, how long it will take you, and what you will need to get it done.

5

2) Identify what are the factors that cause my procrastination – Facebook, Youtube, message etc. How do you feel? Write it down if you think its help.

6

3) Confront the feelings: Once I had identified what is holding me back, for example fear of failure, avoid facing the stress level, lack of motivation. I will ask myself 2 questions: What do I need to do to move forward? What would make it easier?

7

4) Put results before comfort: Know what your end point is and stay focus. Whatever you do, is a step toward reaching your ultimate goal.8

It is not a question of comfort anymore; it is a question of results. What is more important to you?

NLP Singapore – 7 Things You Would Never Know How You Can Create Success from Failures!

Posted by on Mar 25, 2014 in Inspirational Stories, Self Improvement |

Hi Friends,

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time. – Thomas Edison

Often, we feel lost and end up with the mentality to give up as it is the easiest way to exit from our anxiety.

1.1

I passed my driving test after the 4th attempt. In between, many thoughts were running through my mind; I’m exhausted, I’m not focus, I’m careless, I’m nervous but one particular thought that never ever came across to my mind is to give up.

1.2

My determination and perseverance pull me through to the final test whereby I passed with 18 points and now I can put a tick in my resolutions list and continue to achieve the impossible. If I can do it, so can you.

1.3

7 steps to success based on Thomas Edison’s way of thinking:

1.4

1. ” I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
He accepts failure. He finds its positive side and realizes that it is something as normal as success. And thus we need to learn how to fail before we learn how to succeed.

2. “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.”

Giving up is what stopped many people from becoming more, from achieving greatness and changing the world. Giving up is the state in which our mind shows the white flag, in which it’s easier for us not to move on, not to try one more time and to just listen to the naysayers. But we can all overcome that point. We can keep believing because everything around us is an example of what happens if someone keeps pushing and believing. The answer is to just try one more time. Do it without thinking too much, without analyzing the situation, without listening to the others and without fearing the chance of failing again.

3. “Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.”
Remember that no matter what you have achieved so far, no matter how experienced or educated you are and no matter where you come from and where you’re going, you can get what you want by working hard. Hard work combined with concentration and focus will always have results. So perspire and success will come.

4. “There’s a way to do it better – find it.”
As human being we can change our body and mind however we want. It’s not easy – it never is, but once we’ve done it right, nothing will be able to stand in our way.
Whatever we do, there is always the chance of doing it better. We are born to thrive, improve and evolve and that is why we have to try again and again if we really want something.

5.” When I have fully decided that a result is worth getting I go ahead of it and make trial after trial until it comes.”
You need to know whether your idea is worth it or not. And if it is – never give up on it until you succeed. Create it in your mind first, reach success there before you actually do it. And then, after making efforts, after dedicating time and energy, you will start seeing results. You will see your idea in reality and the moment you see someone using what you’ve invented and how it helps people live better – you will know that all the beads of sweat were worth it.

6. “We don’t know a millionth of one percent about anything.”
Realize and accept how much you don’t know and how more you have to learn. Every time you try you can fail because of the lack of knowledge how to do it right. But that can be changed. You can learn new things every day and do your best to become professional in your field. Then you will know exactly what to do and how to do it and this time failure won’t be an option.

7. “It is astonishing what an effort it seems to be for many people to put their brains definitely and systematically to work.”
Focus! Only a concentrated man can work adequately. Only a concentrated mind can think of a thousand ways to do one thing and each one of them can be brilliant.
You may be able to work for days without resting but you are wasting your time if you don’t stay focused. And sometimes only 60 minutes of concentration a day can bring the best results.

Have these statements in mind next time you try to do something. Remember that failure is a state of mind, just like success, and that makes it something that is in our control. Without failure, we can’t succeed. They are connected in a way we can understand only if we accept the first in order to reach the second one.

So here is a summary of the important lessons Thomas Edison wants every generation to learn:
• Accept failure;
• Never give up;
• Work hard;
• Find a better way to do it;
• Try until you succeed;
• Learn and improve so that you don’t fail next time;
• Stay focused.

The fruits of his labor were 1093 patents, including the bulb, the photograph, the motion picture camera, the printing telegraph apparatus, typewriting machines, telephones and many other things we can’t live without today.

Have you done your to-do list to stay focused?

NLP – Why You Should NEVER Give Up!

Posted by on Mar 14, 2014 in Inspirational Stories |

Hi Friends,

A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life. ~ Isadora James.

7

For the past 24 years, my sister and I have gone through ups and down together. As an elder sister, I would always stand up for her in school when there is an injustice that needs to be addressed. As for her, she would place me first before thinking for herself which makes me cry at times. Elena Delle Doone and Elizabeth’s inspiration story inspire me not to give up when times are rough because I know there is someone backing me up, my sister, my family.

2

1)       Scholarship  to University of Connecticut, ACA, Hoops Heaven

Before Elena Delle Doone became a Sport celebrity, she made a bold decision by giving up a scholarship to women’s basketball heaven, the University of Connecticut, AKA, Hoops Heaven, a dream that every female basketball players wish to enroll in as it deem to be a perfect fit of star player and powerhouse team.

3

2)       Connection with her sister

After 2 days in Connecticut, she deeply missed her sister who has diagnosed with cerebral palsy and is blind and deaf since young. Social/communication platform become meaningless for her. Throughout the years, their unique way of communicating is using physical contact. “She knows me by my smell and my feel, so, physically; physical contact is the only thing she knows.”

To keep Lizzie in her mind and close to her heart at all times, Elena even got an angel wings with Lizzie name on it. It is a constant reminder to Elena of what all her efforts are for.

“I have a tattoo right on my rib and it says ‘Lizzie’ and is inside angel wings,” she said. “And during the games, I even tap my side right before the game or when the game gets tough just to know Lizzie is out here with me to keep fighting.” – Elena Delle Doone

3)       Family comes first

After much consideration, she decided to move back to Delaware, her hometown and enrolled in Delaware University. Many were stumped by her decision (a rising star) to give up playing in the top team but deep down in her heart, she knows where she belongs.Families are the ones that keep her going. Each day she sees how Lizze struggles and her fighting spirits against diseases which helps her to put her life in perspectives and  lift up her fighting spirit in the game. “Only one thing would lead me back to the court and help me become one of the best players in the country: FAMILY”. – Elena Delle Doone

5

1)       Achievements

Today, she is a star player as well as an inspiring Sport Celebrity that represent Special Olympic as a Global ambassador teaches unfortunate kids like Lizzie. Even though she didn’t end up where she thought she’d be. She says it was worth sacrificing a place on a top team for her family.“They’re definitely my rocks and when I went away from my rocks, I realized that it wasn’t the right thing,” she said. “I wasn’t going to be happy if I was separated from my family.”She has her sister to thank. In court, when things aren’t going her way, she will think of her sister perseverance. “She teaches me that you just fight no matter what and on the court when things aren’t going our way, give up is something I’ll never do and you’ll never see me put my head down and give up.”

This is the story of Elena Delle Donne

I have found my inspirations, have you found someone that can truly inspire you? Have a good weekend ahead.

NLP Singapore – Will you regret not accomplishing some goals before you leave the earth?

Posted by on Nov 29, 2013 in Inspirational Stories |

Hi Friends,

Do all of you have a list of MUST-DOs that you must accomplish before you leave this world for a better place?

I’m pretty sure all of us have this list. From…

charitable-companies

 doing more good deeds, charity,

SimpsonsFamily2

spending more time with family,

financial-freedom

achieving financial freedom,

making-a-difference

making a difference in others’ life,

Tips-for-Travel-the-World-within-your-Budget

tour around the world,

sea of stars

going to the Sea of Stars on Vaadhoo Island in the Maldives and etc.

Out of all our lists,  irregardless of what it is, I’m pretty sure all of us will have at least one in common.

Let’s do a simple activity now…..

Close your eyes now…

Give yourself 1-3 mins…

Imagine how would you be living your life in the next 5 to 10 years…

imagine-finished-1

So, what do you see yourself doing?

Is it achieving what you had in your “Must-dos”?

To achieve all these, all of us probably have to work twice as hard to reach our goals, and in turn, it might deviate us from the path of what truly matters in our life.

I was reminded about what I hold important in my life today after I came across this article, The Top 5 Regrets of the Dying:

1) I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

2) I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.

3) I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.

4) I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.

5) I wish that I had let myself be happier.

blog

They are so applicable to each and everyone of us, isn’t it?

Did it ever occur to you before that, “What if I would kick the bucket first while still working so hard before we can reach our goals?”

Previously, I had wanted to give my family a better life, and thus I spent most of my time working. This goal, however, only had me spending more time at work rather than spending more time with my family and friends at that point of time! Isn’t it ironic?

Wanting to spend more time with people I love in future, I sacrificed the time I have with them now. Why Don’t We Spend More Time with them NOW while balancing work?!

In any case, when we die, we can’t bring our money with us, can we? Our family would have preferred that we spend more time with them, wouldn’t they?

I only realized this 2 years back, and I had already lost contact with some of my close friends in a travel company I used to work at, and this really is one of the most regretted in my life.

Now, I make it a point to keep in contact with my friends and family, treasuring them so that I know I have one item less on my “Regret List” when I’m on my deathbed.

How about you?

NLP Singapore – The Habits of Supremely Happy People, Are Yours Similar?

Posted by on Nov 1, 2013 in Inspirational Stories |

Hi Friends,

How’s your week so far?

It must have been great! If you don’t feel likewise, you must have missed out reading this article, “The Habits of Supremely Happy People”!

Here’re some points that I have learnt from the article, and you might want to take note and apply into your daily life too!

1)      Surround yourself with other happy people!

We do feel happy when people around us are happy, don’t we?! It’s like how a smile is contagious!

happy1

2)      There’s this Japanese Proverb mentioned…

falldown

It’s amazing how Happy People can manage to fall down seven/several times, and they are still optimistic and get up again and use other methods and ways to get around it UNTIL THEY SUCCEED no matter what other negative voices they hear! Do you have friends who are like this too? I do know a handful, and i find them very inspiring and I simply LOVE hanging around with them!

Are you one of the pessimistics, who give up after failing only once? If so, it’s time to surround yourself with happy people and change your mindset!

3) Happy People let themselves lose track of time.

Time

I find this point very relevant to me. Here goes a bit about myself…

I am a person who dreads exercising and finds it a waste of time. Last year, i only went to the gym ONCE, and i kinda sweared that I would never exercise again. HAHA. Only recently, I’m being introduced to Zumba, and after influencing my friends to join me as gym companions, I finally stepped into the gym again!

I came to love Zumba, and felt very HAPPY exercising, and now I visit the gym at least once a week to workout to keep a healthy lifestyle!

I remember there was once I enjoyed myself so much that I got carried away and went for Zumba 4 times in a week, and I didn’t feel tired at all! I enjoyed myself so much, and it seems that I’m in this joyful state called “Flow”, which happens when one is immersed in an activity that is concurrently challenging, revitalizing and meaningful. Truly enough, I felt accomplished ever since, and most importantly, I came to appreciate my body more and LIVED HAPPILY EVERYDAY FEELING GOOD!

Is there any activities/occasions that made you encounter this state of flow?

4) EXERCISE!

Fitness dance

This links back to the example of the previous point~ Exercise gives you endorphins, and Endorphins make you happy! Now, I know why I feel happier after exercising. More reasons for us to exercise now!

5) Move Away from all Kinds of Technology For A While

nature

Life is hectic for us, especially when we are living in Singapore. Everything is fast-paced. With the help of technology, things move even faster in our life. Sometimes, we should stop using Facebook, Twitter, TV, radio, etc for a while, and spend some time with the nature instead. Unknowingly, it would help us to de-stress and recharge ourselves for the challenges we face in life, which in turn helps us to discover ourselves and become a better person!

So, stay away from your computer and handphone for at least 15mins after reading this post, and make use of this time to recharge! =D

life challenges

Have a GREAT start for November!
